REIKI
Reiki means Universal Healing Energy or “spiritually guided life-force energy” and has been a popular healing therapy in the UK for around 35 years. Its origins can be traced
to Mikao Usui, a Japanese teacher, whose personal experiences as a Buddhist led him to a very practical
understanding of healing in the 1920’s.
A Reiki healing treatment is usually given on a treatment couch (it can be given seated), lasts
around one hour and can be deeply relaxing, working on all levels (physical, mental, emotional,
spiritual).
Reiki’s many benefits include pain reduction and relief from the symptoms of many
day-to-day health problems.
It may help reduce stress and anxiety, and as energy flow through the chakras
(the spiritual energy centres of the body) is improved, a treatment often gives a sense of
increased wholeness and deep inner peace.
